چکیده

same procedure is to be adopted 'for wounds of the cornea, the edges of which should be sutured in accurate apposition in order to avoid subsequent irregular astigmatism. When an adherent leucoma is already present', one should proceed as recommended by Saqhs of Vienna, i.e., the cornea 'in front of the adherent iris is incised with a corneal trephine applied obliquely, so as to cut an incomplete disc attached by a pedicle; the iris is then freed from the cornea by pulling on the adherent part and cutting it; the corneal disc is finally reposed with or without the insertion of sutures. A' deep perforating keratoplasty may be necessary later for optical reasons. When Lindner's method does not bring attenuation of the ectasia of conical cornea, deep perforating keratoplasty is applied. Ectatic irregulaxrity on the anterior surface of the cornea slhould be corrected by partial or total staphylectomy, and a better cosmetic effect is obtained by fitting a contact glass (Jena glass-Zeiss) on the corneal part of which an appropriate iris pattern and pupil are drawn. This is preferable to excision of the globe and the wearing of an artificial eye.

Evaluation of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Findings in Patients with Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion

Purpose: To analyze the correlation of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings with visual acuity (VA) in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 20 eyes of 20 patients with unilateral BRVO involving the macula referred to the ophthalmology clinic of Rassoul Akram Hospital. OCTA imaging was conducted for all patie...

Baseline subfoveal choroidal thickness as an indicator for bevacizumab outcomes in central retinal vein occlusion

Background: Retinal vein occlusions are one of the most common form of retinal vascular disorders and could lead to vision loss due to macular edema, macular ischemia and sequelae from neovascularization. Anti-venous endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the choice strategy of treatment for patients with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). There is an ...

Effect of Avastin on intraocular pressure before and after intravitreal injections

Introduction: Intravitreal Avastin (bevacizumab) injection is reportedly accompanied by ocular and systemic side-effects. Our enquiry assesses whether there are any differences between intraocular pressure (IOP) in baseline and on the day after injection in patients treated for retinal disease. Methods: In this experimental study, 82 eyes with retinal diseases that had indication for anti-VEGF...

بررسی تأثیر کمکی شیمی درمانی موضعی در درمان رتینوبلاستوم پیشرفته داخل چشمی

Background and Aim: Although combined "Chemotherapy and Focal therapy" is very efficient in the treatment of the low grade forms of Retinoblastoma (Rb), more effective therapeutic measures are required to control the spread of the disease into vitreous and subretinal areas. This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of chemotherapy combined with perioricular inject...

RETINAL DISORDERS Safety threshold of intravitreal activated protein-C

Purpose Although activated protein C (APC) is effective in preventing the death of retinal neurons in ischemic retinopathy, it is not known at what concentrations it becomes retinotoxic. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentrations of intravitreal APC that are safe and those that are toxic for the retina, using rabbit eyes. Methods The left eyes of 12 rabbits received an intrav...

Effects of apelin and vascular endothelial growth factor on central retinal vein occlusion in monkey eyes intravitreally injected with bevacizumab: a preliminary study

PURPOSE To examine the intraocular distribution of bevacizumab at four weeks after intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injection and to investigate the effects of IVB on apelin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) of monkey eyes. METHODS Direct laser coagulation was performed on all branch retinal veins in the right eyes of six Rhesus monkeys t...
